Where PowerPoint keeps your videos and sounds
When you insert a video or a sound from your computer, PowerPoint copies the whole file into the presentation. That's why presentations with video are so large. Narration you record with Record Slide Show is stored the same way, as a file for each slide.
This tool finds those files and tells you which slide plays each one. They come out in the format they were inserted in, most often MP4 for video and M4A or MP3 for sound, and most of them play right in your browser. Videos inserted from YouTube or another website are only links, so there is nothing to save.

Questions and answers
Why isn't my YouTube video there?
Online videos are only linked from the slide. The video itself stays on YouTube or the other website, so it isn't inside the file.
Why can some videos only be downloaded?
Browsers play MP4, WebM and most sound files, but not every format. Older formats such as WMV or AVI can be downloaded and played with a media player such as VLC.
Can I get the narration I recorded?
Yes. Narration recorded in PowerPoint is saved as a sound or video file for each slide, and each one appears in the list with its slide number.
Does it work with old .ppt files?
Not yet. Open the presentation in PowerPoint, save it as .pptx and drop that file instead.
Who can see the videos?
You can, straight away, in the browser you uploaded from. If you share the result link, others have to sign in to play them, and result pages never appear in search engines. To remove them, open the full results, choose Report, then "Permanently delete this page".
What happens to my file?
Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, read on our servers and deleted automatically after about 24 hours. The answer is kept on a page with its own link, so you can share it. Tool result pages are never listed in search engines.
