What editing leaves behind
Editing apps tend to sign their work. Photoshop, Lightroom, Snapseed and others write their name into the file, some keep a history of every save, and re-saving often changes the dates or drops the camera's private notes.
This tool looks for those traces and lists each one it finds, so you can judge for yourself. It reads the file's details, not its pixels, so it won't spot a skilled edit whose traces were cleaned up.

Questions and answers
How can I tell if a photo has been edited?
Drop it into the box above. We look for the traces editing apps leave in a file and list each one we find, from the app's name to a save long after the photo was taken.
Can it tell if a photo was photoshopped?
Photoshop leaves clear traces: its name, its own data blocks and often an edit history. If those are still in the file, we'll show them. A file that was edited and then cleaned of its details won't show them.
Does "edited" mean the photo is fake?
No. Most edits are ordinary: cropping, straightening, colour fixes or exporting from a gallery app. It tells you the file isn't the camera's original, not what was changed.
Why does it say it can't tell?
The photo has almost no details left. Screenshots and photos shared on social networks or messaging apps lose them, so there's nothing to check. The original file is needed.
Can it detect changes to the pixels?
Not directly. It reads the information saved alongside the image. Spotting pixel changes needs image forensics, which looks at the picture itself.
What happens to my file?
Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, read on our servers and deleted automatically after about 24 hours. The answer is kept on a page with its own link, so you can share it. Tool result pages are never listed in search engines.
