What an ebook knows about itself
Every EPUB carries a small catalogue record: title, author, publisher, language, publication date, subjects and an identifier, often the ISBN. Kindle MOBI and AZW3 files keep the same details in their own format.
E-readers and library apps use them to name, sort and match your books. Checking them explains why a book shows up under the wrong author, and gives you the ISBN to look up an edition.

Questions and answers
How do I see the metadata of an EPUB?
Drop the file into the box above. You'll see its title, author, publisher, ISBN and more.
How do I find a book's ISBN from the file?
If the publisher included it, it's listed with a copy button. Self-published books often use another identifier instead.
Why does my book show under the wrong author?
Its metadata names that author, or spells it differently. Edit it in Calibre and send the book to your reader again.
Does it work with Kindle books?
With MOBI and AZW3 files that aren't protected by DRM. Books bought from Kindle are encrypted.
Can I get the cover image?
Open all metadata to see what the file holds; the cover is one of the images inside the EPUB.
What happens to my file?
Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, read on our servers and deleted automatically after about 24 hours. The answer is kept on a page with its own link, so you can share it. Tool result pages are never listed in search engines.
