What a workbook records about itself
Excel saves a list of its worksheets and named ranges with every workbook, along with who wrote it and who saved it last. The list includes sheets that are hidden from view.
Reading it tells you what a workbook holds before you open it, and catches forgotten or hidden sheets with data you didn't mean to share.

Questions and answers
How can I list all sheet names in an Excel file?
Drop the workbook into the box above. Every worksheet is listed by name, in order.
Does it show hidden sheets?
Yes. Hidden and very hidden sheets are in the list like the others.
What are named ranges?
Names given to cells or ranges, such as "TaxRate", used in formulas. Print areas also appear as named ranges.
Why are no sheet names shown?
Some apps and converters don't save the sheet list. OpenDocument files only record how many tables they contain.
Can I get the pictures out of a workbook?
Yes, with our Extract Images from Excel tool.
What happens to my file?
Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, read on our servers and deleted automatically after about 24 hours. The answer is kept on a page with its own link, so you can share it. Tool result pages are never listed in search engines.
