What InvokeAI saves in its images

InvokeAI writes the generation recipe into every PNG it makes: the positive and negative prompts, the model, the seed, the steps, the CFG scale and the scheduler, and for node workflows, the whole graph.

InvokeAI can load it back with "Recall parameters", but only inside the app. This viewer reads it anywhere, so you can check an image someone sent you or keep notes on your own work.

Questions and answers

How do I see the metadata of an InvokeAI image?

Drop the original PNG into the box above. You'll see the prompts, model, seed and settings InvokeAI saved.

Why is nothing found?

The metadata is in the PNG file InvokeAI saved. Converted, screenshotted or social-media copies lose it.

Does it read node workflows?

It reads the prompt and settings from them and shows how many nodes the workflow has. See all metadata for the full graph.

Can I load these settings back into InvokeAI?

Yes: open the original image in InvokeAI and use "Recall parameters", or copy the values shown here.

Does it work for other AI images?

Yes. If another generator made the image, we show its prompt and say which tool made it.

What happens to my file?

Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, read on our servers and deleted automatically after about 24 hours. The answer is kept on a page with its own link, so you can share it. Tool result pages are never listed in search engines.
