How a video says what saved it
Editing apps and converters leave their name in the file: Adobe apps in a creator-tool field, others in an encoder or writing-app field. Phones and cameras write their own model instead.
Reading those fields tells you whether a clip is the camera original or was exported again, and often which app did it. It's useful for checking footage, debugging an export, or learning how a video was made.

Questions and answers
How can I tell what app edited a video?
Drop the video into the box above. We read the app names the file carries and show the one that last saved it.
What does "FFmpeg" mean?
FFmpeg is free software used inside many apps and websites to save video. When a file only carries its mark, the app that used it could be CapCut, HandBrake, VLC or another.
Can I tell if a video came straight from my phone?
If it names your phone and no editing app, it very likely did. An exported or downloaded copy usually carries the app's or website's mark.
Does it detect CapCut and TikTok?
When they sign the file, yes. CapCut often saves with FFmpeg's mark only, which we show as an FFmpeg-based app.
Can the app name be faked?
Yes, the fields are ordinary text. Treat the answer as what the file says about itself.
What happens to my file?
Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, read on our servers and deleted automatically after about 24 hours. The answer is kept on a page with its own link, so you can share it. Tool result pages are never listed in search engines.
